Advancing College Education (ACE) Program

The College of Ethnic Studies is preparing to offer an undergraduate certificate in Ethnic Studies for incarcerated youth starting in fall 2021. In spring 2021, we will be piloting our first course, ETHS 110 Critical Thinking in Ethnic Studies, for 27 students across three facilities. Studies show that a liberal arts education lowers recidivism rates even more so than a technical degree. Join us in providing transformative education for our students most committed to change. Donations will support scholarships for students' tuition.

  • An undergraduate certificate program in Ethnic Studies consisting of 4 courses or 12 units that will fulfill lower division general education at any California State University

  • Online courses taught by faculty at San Francisco State University that youth can take while in custody

  • Special assistance towards admission into SF State after completion of the certificate

  • Scholarships and other assistance towards tuition may be available

  • Anticipated start date Spring 2021

For more information on making a donation to the ACE Program scholarship please contact Alex Sanchez at alexsan@sfsu.edu or call 415-338-1032.
