San Francisco State University is a designated Asian American Native American Pacific Islander Serving Institution (AANAPISI) and we offer two campus wide initiatives to serve our Asian American and Pacific Islander community through the College of Ethnic Studies. Responsive Education for Access, Community, and Hope (REACH) is a comprehensive set of culturally responsive and equity-minded access, awareness, and financial literacy strategies designed to improve college access, persistence, and completion and Access, Relevance, Community (ARC) Transfer Pathways is a partnership with the San Mateo County Community College District (SMCCCD) to address the transfer process and enrollment, career development, and student wellness for Asian American and Pacific Islander (AA&PI) and low-income (LI) students.
We are looking to hire an ARC Student Assistants to support administrative, social media, and communication duties for ARC outlined below.
In this role, their duties and responsibilities include:
Communication & Outreach - 70%
- Create visual content and promotional materials such as flyers, campaigns, videos
- Help manage social media accounts by creating and scheduling posts, engaging with the audience, analyzing metrics to monitor performance, and staying updated with trends
- Assist with updating websites, calendar, newsletter, and promotional materials each week to share upcoming opportunities and events
- Engage with students through classroom presentations, tabling opportunities, and events to share information about AANAPISI initiatives
- Create and facilitate workshops and events on wellness and career pathways for transfer students
- Supporting AANAPISI Days and building partnerships with our ARC Community College Partners
- Support ARC faculty and student learning communities.
Administrative - 30%
- Attend regular AANAPISI meetings, trainings, and events
- Meet with direct supervisor weekly to set and review goals and outcomes
- Maintain workspace and log all hours on SFSU HR and internal log
- Assist with logistics and preparation of campus events and workshops, including distributing evaluations for reporting
Minimum Qualifications:
For consideration, candidates must possess the following qualifications:
- Have a strong commitment to social justice
- Minimum GPA of 3.0
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Positive attitude
- Self-motivated
- Must be available to attend all trainings, retreats, weekly meetings
- Experience working closely with college students
- Solid written and oral communication skills
- Interest and availability to work a consistent 10 hours a week schedule between 9AM-5PM
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Strong skills with Microsoft Office
Preferred Qualifications:
- Proficient in graphic design programs, marketing, and social media strategies
- Familiarity with AANAPISI initiatives at SFSU
Compensation: Minimum 1-year commitment with 10 to 20 hours per week at $20.00 an hour
